Lindsey Vonn shared an adorable photo of enjoying a post-race meal with her dog, Lucy. Vonn last competed at the Super-G in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, finishing 13th behind Lauren Macuga in 12th.
Vonn came out of retirement in the 2024/25 World Cup circuit, vying to add more laurels to her 82-win tally. Having competed in a downhill race at the FIS Fall Festival at Copper Mountain in early December, she debuted in the 2024/25 season with the Super-G in St. Moritz. Her following downhill stint at St. Anton earned her a sixth finish.
Vonn improved her score in the next super-G race at St. Anton. In her downhill training session at Cortina d'Ampezzo, the 40-year-old suffered a crash and faced the same fate in the Super-G next. On January 26, 2025, she returned to the slopes and clinched 13th in the Super-G in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, 1.40s behind winner Lara Gut-Behrami.
After the successful run, she shared an adorable photo of herself and her dog Lucy enjoying a post-race hotdog for the meal
"Post race meal," she captioned her Instagram story.
Lindsey Vonn competed in a downhill race at Garmisch-Partenkirchen on January 25 but failed to finish. In an interview after her setback, Vonn talked about improving her form for the World Championships in February and the Milan Olympics in 2026.
"For me, it was really good to ride without taking too many risks. I wanted to stay healthy and nothing more. The goal wasn't to be here this season at all — of course the only thing that matters are medals at the World Championships. Saalbach is a pretty easy course, so it should suit me pretty well, if I can get some fast skis I should be in good shape."
Lindsey Vonn announced her final skiing retirement after the 2026 Milan Olympics
Amassing 82 World Cup wins, Lindsey Vonn made history as the first American woman to win a downhill Olympic gold at the 2010 Games. She added two more Olympic medals to her wall of fame. Having retired in 2019 because of injuries, the 40-year-old stayed closely connected to sports through different roles.
In 2024/25, she returned to compete at the World Cup en route to the Milan Winter Olympics in 2026. In an interview with the Associated Press, Vonn said that the Olympics would be the final chapter of her career but she doesn't want to think that far and focus on one race at a time.
"It would be a great way to end things — for once and for all. I have to keep thing’s going and if I can make it, it would be a thrilling and a great way to kind of close the loop on my career — I guess the second chapter of my career. But I’m really trying not to think that far ahead. I have to stick with what’s on today and tomorrow and just kind of building and getting everything dialed in. But I definitely am thinking about it and I hope that I can get there," she noted.
Lindsey Vonn was the first female to ski the Streif in 2023 but didn't do it competitively.
