American alpine ski racer Lindsey Vonn sent her prayers to the California Citizens as they faced the wrath of a wildfire spree. As per reports, a series of fires emerged on Tuesday (Dec. 7).
Three series namely the Palisades fire, the Eaton fire and the Hurst fire have caused destruction around a large region of Southern California. Additionally, it has also forced a large population of the region to move out of their houses and properties.
The fire department has started their operations and considering safety, several educational institutions were also shut on Wednesday. Amidst this, Vonn took to her Instagram handle to share a glimpse of this disaster in her stories and wrote:
"Praying for the safety of everyone affected by the fires in California"
Lindsey Vonn is currently in Europe where she is training with the US Women's ski team featuring skiers such as Bella Wright, Jessie Diggins and Sophia Laukli.
Lindsey Vonn opens up about her benefits from the knee surgery
Lindsey Vonn recently shed light on the benefits that she got after her knee surgery in April. During the surgery in Florida, several parts of Vonn's knee were changed with titanium pieces.
In an interview, Vonn revealed that the titanium pieces were a lot better for her than the cartilage that was present before the surgery. Additionally, she also advised that this process can be considered by the athletes who suffer from such knee problems. She said (via AP News):
"It’s a lot better than my non-existent cartilage. I’ve talked to a lot of skiers already about it and I really think that it could be something that should be considered. I feel amazing. I mean, obviously not everyone responds the same way to surgeries. For some reason, I bounce back pretty well from surgery. But I think it’s something to seriously consider for athletes that have a lot of knee problems.”
Just a few months after the surgery, Lindsey Vonn was back on the slopes after coming out of retirement. She has participated in four FIS and one World Cup race since her comeback and also clinched a top-15 finish in the latter event in St. Moritz.
