Lindsey Vonn made her return to competitive skiing in November, 2024, at the age of 40. She has faced a series of knee injuries from 2013 to 2018, which forced her retirement in 2019. Now the skier is back to the sport and recently opened up about her comeback in an interview with the Today show. She stated that she never thought she would again be back on the slopes competing and revealed that the response to her return has been incredible.

"I honestly thought it's never going to happen. I am as surprised as everyone else. I'm really enjoying this journey. No one's ever done this, so I honestly don't know how far I can take it but so far it's been incredible, the response has been incredible," Vonn said.

She further revealed that her pain after the knee surgery has suddenly vanished.

"I always thought it was over. Of course, if I had the opportunity to keep skiing I would have but my injuries always held me back and I don't know when I got this surgery I felt so good. I had no more pain, things that were bothering me for so many years were suddenly gone and I thought if I feel this good, playing tennis and doing all the things I love, what about skiing?"

Lindsey Vonn has had a stellar career as she won a total of three Olympic medals in her career, and along with it, she has also delivered stellar performances in the World Cup races, as she has nabbed 82 gold medals, 35 silver medals, and 20 bronze medals in her career.
