After a successful super-G run in Austria, Lindsey Vonn stepped out on a dinner date with fellow alpine skier Sophia Goggia and her pet dog Lucy. Vonn returned to her sport after retiring in 2019 in the wake of persistent injuries.
Vonn drew a line to her storied career in 2019 but stayed connected to sports through various roles. In November 2024, she announced her return to the Stifel US Ski team, vying for a spot in the World Cup women's racing team. She returned to the slopes on December 7, finishing 24th in downhill at the FIS Fall Festival at Copper Mountain.
Her World Cup return in St. Moritz recorded a 14th finish, followed by a promising downhill performance in St. Anton, where she clinched sixth place. On January 11, 2025, she posted her best performance in the super-G race in St. Anton, finishing fourth, behind winner Lauren Macuga.
Shortly after, she stepped out for dinner with Italian skier Sophia Goggia and her pet dog Lucy. Goggia shared a picture of them in her Instagram story, writing:
"Dinner with the one and only @lindseyvonn and Lucy of course."
The following picture by Vonn featured Goggia and Lucy, writing:
"Ciao fans"
Lindsey Vonn, the 82-time World Cup winner, lifted her 20th globe in 2016, surpassing Ingemar Stenmark's 19th World Cup crystal globe-win mark. Her sporting dominance also earned her three Olympic medals, a gold and two bronze. Her Olympic gold medal in the downhill was the first for an American woman.
Lindsey Vonn was content after finishing fourth and sixth in the Austrian World Cup races
Lindsey Vonn, the first woman to ski the Steif in 2023, never stayed away from alpine skiing despite retiring from competitive skiing six years ago. In the ongoing 2024/25 World Cup circuit, she joined US women's skiers, months after her partial knee replacement surgery.
She executed her runs in St. Anton, finishing fourth and sixth. Expressing gratitude for everyone's support, she took to her Instagram handle, writing:
"What a weekend!! 4th and 6th place in my second and third race back….every day it’s getting better. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported me, means a lot! Always have so much fun racing in Austria because they love skiing as much as I do … and because the Kaiserschmaren is amazing!! (last picture)."
Notably, Vonn received the Laureus Sportswoman of the Year award in 2011. She also covered the 2014 Winter Olympics as a correspondent for NBC News.
