Logan Paul and KSI-owned Prime Hydration Drink recently faced a lawsuit from the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC). This comes after one of the recent products of Prime Hydration Drinks used phrases and symbols that are specifically trademarked by the USOPC.
Prime was founded in 2022 by Logan Paul and YouTuber KSI. The brand's products range from sports drinks to refreshments. In recent years, the brand has created a huge market for itself due to the immense social media presence and fame of its owners, Paul and KSI. The brand has also sponsored prominent organizations such as FC Barcelona and Arsenal.
However, Prime's recent product, a special edition of its hydration drink, features NBA legend and current Phoenix Suns player Kevin Durant. Prime employs slogans in its marketing strategies, which are trademarked in the name of the USOPC.
The lawsuit filed by the USOPC also stated that the organization had requested that Prime remove the phrases and symbols from the advertisements for its product. However, the Paul-owned brand has refrained from abiding by the directions of the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee. The statement states:
"Prime Hydration has used the following Olympic-related terminology and trademarks on product packaging, Internet advertising, and in promotions featuring a Prime Hydration flavor and athlete Kevin Durant."
It further stated:
"Despite numerous requests from USOPC, the Defendant did not remove all infringing social media posts. Defendant is still actively infringing USOPC marks."
In the statement, the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee also clarified its stance on its collaboration with Coca-Cola and remarked that the Atlanta-based soft-drink brand has paid the charges for using such trademarked slogans and symbols of the USOPC.
