London Marathon 2024 Results: Peres Jepchirchir breaks women's only world record, Kenya's Mutiso Munyao wins men's crown

The highly anticipated TCS London Marathon 2024 has culminated, and as expected, the record books had to be rewritten. Olympic Champion Perwa Jepchirchir breezed past the finish line in a women's only world record time of two hours 16 minutes and 16 seconds. And she wasn't the only one who broke the previous women's only record of 2 hours 17 minutes and one seconds set by Mary Keitany in 2017

World record holder Tigst Assefa finished 2nd in a time of 2:16:23 also becoming the second fastest in women's only record times. Joyciline Jepkosgei of Kenya clocked 2:16:24 for 3rd place.

The men's elite race at the London Marathon 2024 saw Mutiso Munyao of Kenya hold off legend Kenenisa Bekele by 14 seconds. Munyao clocked 2 hours 4 minutes and one second for the victory while Bekele finished 2nd in 2 hours 4 minutes and 15 seconds.

The third place was secured by British star runner Emile Cairess who clocked 2:06:46 to become the 2nd fastest English athlete in the distance. Cairess is also the first British runner since Mo Farah in 2018 to secure a podium at the London Marathon.

Men's wheelchair elite race event at London Marathon 2024 saw Marcel Hug clock an impressive 1:28:35 to finish ahead of USA's Daniel Ramanchuk, who clocked 1:29:06 for the 2nd position. The women's wheelchair event was won by Catherine Debrunner in 1:38:54.
