Anna DeBeer reflects on missing NCAA Finals due to injury
On December 23, 2024, Anna Beer opened up about her emotions during a post-game interview after missing the finals between Louisville and Penn State. The Nittany Lions won the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship 3-1, securing their eighth national title and making history as the first team with a female head coach, Katie Schumacher-Cawley, to win the title.
Penn State finished the season with a 35-2 record and claimed the Big Ten Championship.
After the defeat, DeBeer reflected on the challenges of being unable to play due to injury, despite her efforts to recover quickly. She acknowledged how difficult it was to even be on the court given her injury, which limited her ability to perform at her best. Reflecting on the game night and her injury, DeBeer said:
"I knew it was going to be hard but I knew that I needed to just do whatever I could whatever role that was. It's very unfortunate, just the situation with my injury and it just seemed like all the stars were aligning for such a perfect game in Louisville, finishing my career, and we worked so freaking hard all year to get where we are, and it was just so close so, I think that's what really hard," she said.
Further in the interview, Anna DeBeer expressed gratitude for the support from her teammates, coaching staff, and the community. She highlighted how much the team's journey had meant to her.
