Simone Biles revealed that her husband, Jonathan Owens, usually drops by to see her and give a goodbye kiss before his NFL match. The Olympian, cognizant of the pressure before events, also admitted to allowing Owens to calm his nerves in his way.
Three years after meeting on Raya, Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens took their wedding vows on April 22, 2023, and hosted the social ceremony in Cabo, Mexico, the following month.
Since then, the couple has found it difficult to spend time together due to their career commitments. To make up for the lost time the 11-time Olympic medalist became a regular attendee in Owens' NFL matches when he played with the Green Bay Packers.
Months after clinching her sixth world title in 2023, Biles extended her Olympic medal count to 11 in Paris in 2024. Soon after, she resumed cheering on her husband from the sidelines as Owens began playing for his new team, the Chicago Bears.
In a recent interview with People, the Olympian revealed that she gives her husband space to do his thing before taking the field for his games. Nevertheless, Owens drops by to meet his wife and kiss her goodbye before his feat.
"Pre-game, I just let him do him because I know how stressful that can be sometimes. But he loves to come see me because he usually has to stay at the team hotel, so he loves to come see me, kiss me goodbye," she noted.
After the games, the couple mostly steps out for dinner or quality time together.
Biles clinched three gold medals in the team, all-around, and vault events while her husband cheered her on from the audience at the Paris Olympics. She also took silver in the floor exercise and ended the event behind Rebeca Andrade of Brazil.
Simone Biles is looking forward to spending Christmas with her husband Jonathan Owens
Biles recently graced The Kelly Clarkson Show, where she shared that her preference is tropical Christmas, but this year would be different. While her mother, Nellie Biles, had already flown to Belize for a warm holiday, the Olympian would spend a cold Christmas with her husband.
"I want to be in a bathing suit and we used to actually go away for Christmas to Belize. So, my mom just got there on Monday," the 27-year-old said. (4:42)
She added:
"I'm gonna stay with my husband in the cold."
In a recent interview with People magazine, she complained about Jonathan Owens not lending a hand to decorate the tree.
"I've been begging Jonathan to go down in the basement and to get the tree. This will be the first Christmas that we'll spend alone together as a couple, which is actually really nice."
Simone Biles performed across 30 US cities on the Gold Over America tour, which started on September 26 and concluded on November 3, 2024.
