Mad Marathon 2024: All you need to know about the Boston Marathon qualifier including schedule & list of events

The Mad Marathon 2024 is scheduled to take place on July 7, with the participants in for a scenic run. This year's run marks the 13th edition of the event. It will take place in Mad River Valley in Central Vermont.

For participants, this race will be an experience unlike any other. The marathon route will take them through a rural community on back and dirt roads, requiring intense physical effort.

Easing the strain will be the scenic views that include endless farmlands, unique villages, historic barns, and covered bridges. Runners will also need to be prepared to run into some harmless Vermont cows.

The Mad Marathon is a USATF-certified event, meaning participants can treat it as a qualifier for the highly coveted Boston Marathon. The event features a mix of different events, including the full and half marathons. The cut-off time for the full marathon is 6 hours and 30 minutes.

Awards will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers of the full and half marathon, in the age categories of 16–24, 25–29, 30–34, 35–39, 40–44, 45–49, 50–54, 55–59, 60–64, 65–69, 70-74, 75-79 and 80+

Additionally, the top three men and women in the 5k and 10k will also be rewarded for their efforts.

5:30 PM to 6:30 PM: Mad Carbo Dinner Party at The Inn at the Round Barn with host Chuck Engle, the Marathon Junkie. Eagle will introduce Aaron Burros and Tom Perri, authors of the recently published books ‘Medal Monday’ and ‘Running: My Salvation From Stage 4 Cancer’.

Sunday, July 7

5:30 AM - 6:30 AM: Late Bib pick up at registration tent at Lawson’s Finest Liquids.

On the day of the marathon, runners can expect cool and breezy weather, with temperatures ranging between the mid-seventies and mid-eighties. However, weather in Vermont can be temperamental, with bright sunshine or rain showers coming in at any minute.
