Quincy Wilson took the World by storm after incredible performances at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials over three days in the Men's 400m. Legendary Basketball player Magic Johnson reacted to the incredible performances of the 16-year-old sophomore which led him to miss the U.S. Olympic team in the 400m by a minute margin.

Quincy Wilson broke the U18 400m world record twice in two days, in Round 1 and the semi-finals of the trials. The 16-year-old athlete stood sixth in the Men's 400m finals, after clocking 44.94s, while competing against some of the best American quarter milers of this season like Quincy Hall and Michael Norman.

Wilson received great praise from the track world and many other athletes for achieving such incredible performances at age 16. Legendary basketball player Magic Johnson took to X to express his astonishment over the youngster's performance.

He tweeted about the 16-year-old's performance and how he missed the opportunity to represent the United States in the Paris Olympics by a minute margin.

"Quincy Wilson was just shy of making the USA Olympic team this year at only 16 years old! Even in defeat he took the track world by storm breaking two under-18 world records in the 400M! He ran a 44.66 in the first round then broke his own record in the semifinals running a 44.59. 🤯,"he wrote.

Quincy Wilson spoke about breaking the U18 400m World Record twice in a post-race interview with Citius Magazine. The 16-year-old athlete spoke about breaking a record that stood for 42 years.

“I'm feeling great. I’ve never been this happy a day in my life when it came to track. I’ve been working for this moment. That record that I broke? That’s 42 years. 42 years of nobody being able to break that record. I broke it twice in two days. It means a lot to me because it means that my hard work has been paying off,staying longer after practices, before practices. I'm just excited for myself” he said.

His performance in the U.S. Olympic Trials is an inspiration to all the young athletes who wish to make it to the big stage but are afraid of age constraints. With such a performance, Wilson has raised the expectations, of having a world-class career, in fans and competitors alike.
