Christian Coleman crashed out of the podium finish at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in the 100m at Hayward Field, Oregon. The American athlete stood fourth in the finals of the Men's 100m after clocking 9.93s, thereby missing out on his dream Paris Olympics berth.

The first three athletes were awarded an automatic qualification for the Olympics as a part of the U.S. Olympic Team, provided they surpassed the qualification mark as prescribed by the Olympic Committee. Christian Coleman, who was in a quest to qualify for his first-ever Olympics, was considered to be one of the favorites for the 100m title after incredible performances in the 2024 season where he won the World Indoor title defeating fellow American, Noah Lyles.

Christian Coleman had a great start in the final of the Men's 100m, however, he could not hold on to the lead as Noah Lyles, Kenny Bednarek, and Fred Kerley caught up in the last 20 meters of the race to take the top three positions. Fans were gutted by the American's fourth-place finish.

He took to Instagram two days after the event to express his thoughts on missing out on the Paris Olympics berth. The American remained optimistic despite finishing fourth as he gears up to compete in the 200m on June 27, 2024.

"Humbled and grateful God chose me for this path, and I promise to see it through🤞🏾the love and support has been felt and is much appreciated 🖤this next phase is for y’all. Marathon continues🏁," he wrote.

Christian Coleman spoke about his goals and focus for 2024 after dominance in the early outdoor season. The former 100m World Champion spoke about being steadily focused on the Olympic Trials and his goal of making it to the U.S. Olympic team.

“I can’t even think past June right now, just focused on being our absolute best when we need to be at the trials. If you’re not at your best there then the season’s all for nought, really. That’s what makes it so special to be on the American team -- the fact it’s so hard to make it,” he said. (as quoted by sportstar)

Christian Coleman will be in action on June 27, 2024, in the first round of the Men's 200m, the event that is currently keeping his Olympic dream alive. He will be competing alongside Noah Lyles and Kenny Bednarek among other top athletes for a spot in the U.S. Olympic team.
