2024 Paris Olympics gold medalist Masai Russell recently shared a note for her boyfriend, Robbie Springfield, on National Boyfriend's Day (October 3, Thursday). This comes just a few weeks after Russell concluded her 2024 track and field season at the Athlos NYC 2024 in Icahn Stadium.
Russell and Springfield have been together since their time at the University of Kentucky where they both pursued their higher education and also competed for the collegiate track and field side. Springfield specializes in the long jump event and has a personal best of 7.71m.
Rusell took to her official Instagram handle to share a few pictures with her boyfriend Springfield, in her story and wrote:
"National my man day, I love you pooh"
Masai Russell's boyfriend, Robbie Springfield, is a USTFCCCA Second-team All American in the long jump event and has also competed at the NCAA Division I Track and Field Championships for the University of Kentucky. Currently, he works in the coaching department of the Morehead State University.
Masai Russell ends her 2024 track and field campaign with a third-place finish at the Athlos NYC 2024
Competing after impressive performances at the Zurich, and Rome Diamond League meets and the Grand Prix Lombardia in Brescia, Masai Russell registered another podium finish at Alexis Ohanian's inaugural Athlos women's only meet.
The 24-year-old competed in her signature Women's 100m hurdles event and finished third in the competition with a run time of 12.44 seconds. 2020 Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Jasmine Camacho-Quinn and her United States counterpart Alaysha Johnson finished ahead of Russell with run times of 12.36 and 12.43 seconds respectively.
Russell navigated a pretty impressive 2024 track and field campaign, ending the year as No. 2 in the World Athletics rankings with 1431 points, just behind her Puerto Rican counterpart Jasmine Camacho-Quinn. Following the conclusion of her season with the Athlos NYC, Russell wrote on her official Instagram handle:
"Rookie season was a dream. God showed me just a preview of what’s to come. See yall on the track next season."
The Washington native's 2024 campaign saw her clinch the first Olympic gold medal of her career at the French capital defeating the defending champion, Camacho-Quinn. She also produced impressive performances at the US Olympic Track and Field trials and the Wanda Diamond League meets.
