Jasmine Camacho-Quinn is a 27-year-old Puerto Rican Olympian who is currently eyeing a second Olympic gold medal by competing in the women's 100m hurdles at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics where she won in the event. She has come a step closer to defending her title as she recently topped the 100m hurdles heat 2 at the Summer Games.

Camacho-Quinn clocked a time of 12.42s and trounced Cindy Sember, who recorded 12.72s. Pia Skrzyszowska secured third place by recording 12.82s. Following the win, the Puerto Rican athlete said while speaking to the media that she knew what she was capable of and wanted to "enjoy" herself:

"I just had to talk to myself, get myself ready. I knew what I was capable of, so I just wanted to go out there and enjoy myself. It's a great feeling. I wasn't running all out to run 12.42 (seconds)."

Jasmine Camacho-Quinn was born on August 21, 1996 to James Quinn and Maria Camacho. Both her parents participated in athletics at Baptist College (now Charleston Southern University) in North Charleston, South Carolina. Her father was a hurdler and her mother took part in sprinting and long jump.

Camacho-Quinn's brother, Robert Quinn is also related to the world of sports, being an NFL player.

Jasmine Camacho-Quinn became the second Puerto Rican athlete to win an Olympic gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

After a showdown with the American athlete Kendra Harrison, who secured second place with a time of 12.52s, the 27-year-old topped the podium with a time of 12.37s. Jamaican athlete Megan Tapper claimed third place.

After the victory, Camacho-Quinn opened up about her world-record goal in the post-race interview and said:

"I was really running for the world record. I hit the hurdle, but everything happens for a reason. I came through with the gold, my first gold medal. I think, honestly, all of us (her compatriots), we all should be rewarded for this. We made it."

The athlete is now poised to compete in her second Olympic semifinals in Paris and fight for her 100m hurdles title.
