Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is one of the most consistent and dominant track and field athletes when it comes to the current generation. Ever since she began her professional career in 2018, the New Jersey native has gone from strength to strength.

However, McLaughlin-Levrone isn't the only member of her family to earn a reputation in the world of track and field. Her parents namely, Willie McLaughlin and Mary McLaughlin too, were formidable sprinters in their collegiate and early days.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone's father Willie, competing for the Manhattan College, was a three-time All-American during his college days while her mother Mary competed for the Cardinal O'Hara High School's track and field team. Her siblings, Taylor, Ryan, and Morgan are also talented athletes and have competed for renowned track and field teams.

Her elder sister Morgan McLaughlin competed for the St. Peters university track team, and her elder brother Taylor McLaughlin was a silver medalist (400m hurdles event) at the 2016 edition of the U20 World Athletics Championships in Poland. Her younger brother Ryan McLaughlin competed for the Union Catholic high school track team and also won the New Jersey county track title.

During an interview with Women's Health, the 25-year-old opened up about the athletic background of her parents, saying:

"Both of my parents ran track. My mom was an 800 runner and my dad ran the 400, so it's the perfect mixture for the 400 hurdles right there.”

Besides her parental family, McLaughlin-Levrone's husband Andre Levrone is also a wide receiver who competed in the NFL for three years between 2018 and 2020.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone recently revealed the array of sports her parents, Willie and Mary, taught her during her early years.

She stated during an interview that her parents always made sure that she and her siblings remained active. The 25-year-old also remarked that this practice of getting involved in team sports helped her foster team spirit from a very young age.

She said (via Women's Health):

"We ran track, we did basketball, soccer. I did dance for eight years, tried softball. I think number one for them was just getting us active as kids and making sure that we were exercising."

She added:

"There was also just the social aspect of it—being able to play on teams and make friends and bond and all those things. We really enjoyed it. There was never any pressure or anything."

All these practices and mastery of skills in various sports from a young age helped McLaughlin-Levrone to become one of the greatest hurdlers of all time.
