Michael Phelps sent his best wishes to the Leeds United squad ahead of their game against Southampton in the Championship playoff finals. The American swimming phenom took it to social media and shared a special message for the English Club.

Michael Phelps has been an avid football enthusiast, and he closely follows United's games. Just ahead of their clash on Sunday, both Leeds United and Southampton are off to a great start, as the former defeated Norwich City by 4-0 while the latter won their game against West Bromwich Albion by 3-1 on May 17 and 18, respectively.

However, both Daniel Farke and Russell Martin's teams are searching for momentum, as Leeds' win over Manchester City was only their second victory in eight games, while Southampton have lost three of their last four fixtures.

The Leeds, West Yorkshire-based team announced their squad for the aforementioned game on their Instagram handle on Sunday, which has names like Illan Meslier, Archie Gray, Junior Firpo, etc.

Phelps shared the lineup on his Instagram stories and wrote:

"Let's go squad."

Nonetheless, the game between the two concluded with English striker Adam Armstrong's goal in 24th minute, which put Southamptom on the driving seat until halftime. They managed to keep the momentum until full time and finished the game 1-0.

Michael Phelps' family also supports Leeds United

Michael Phelps, a record 28-time Olympic medalist, has been one of the promoters of various sports, be it golf, baseball, or soccer. He never shies away from showing his support for other sporting domains.

More so, Phelps is one of the star investors in Leeds United, including Hollywood legends Russell Crowe and Will Ferrel and golfers Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas. The team got acquired by San Francisco 49er Enterprises last year in July, and from there on, United's association with the Baltimore Bullet started.

Phelps and his sons were spotted cheering for the team this year in February, while all three of them were donning United jerseys. Furthermore, the former swimmer's wife, Nicole Phelps, posted a picture of their sons Boomer and Beckett on her Instagram last year in October, where the two were seen wearing the Leeds United kit, and she wrote a heartwarming caption that read:

"Maybe there’s football in our future."

The two boys posed for the camera, with "Phelps" and "22" written on their jerseys, creating an adorable picture.
