Michael Phelps expressed happiness over an incredible swimming season in 2024, during which Regan Smith, Summer McIntosh, and other athletes broke several world records. The Baltimore Bullet broke 39 world records during his illustrious career.
Phelps reacted to an Instagram post from Swimming Stats by Swimswam, which detailed the fastest times clocked in each of the women's disciplines in 2024 and wrote that it was a fun year for the sport.
"Fun year for the sport!!" he wrote.

Another notable mention in the list was 18-year-old Summer McIntosh, who leads in three events. How many world records does Michael Phelps still hold?
Michael Phelps no longer holds any of the individual fastest times from his 39 senior world records in swimming. His last individual record was broken in 2023 by Leon Marchand at the World Championships when he clocked 4:02.50 in the 400m Individual Medley.
However, he still does hold two records in 4x100m and 4x200m freestyle relays. Phelps teamed up with Garrett Weber-Gale, Cullen Jones, and Jason Lezak at the 2008 Beijing Olympics to set the world record in 3:08.24, which is now the longest-standing record in history.
The following year, he was paired with Ricky Berens, David Walters, and Ryan Lochte at the World Championships in Rome, with the quartet winning the 4x200m freestyle relay title in 6:58.55.
