Mikaela Shiffrin expressed anticipation over Simone Biles' newest Netflix Sports Docuseries, Simone Biles Rising, scheduled to premiere on July 17, 2024. Shiffrin has always been supportive of Biles' endeavors throughout her athletic career.
Mikaela Shiffrin, 28, is the most decorated alpine skier with the most World Cup wins (97). She was catapulted to the top after surpassing Swedish legend Ingemar Stenmark and fellow US skier Lindsey Vonn in the all-time standings.
Shiffrin recently shared a frame with the former snowboarder Shaun White at the Sport Beach 2024. She teamed up with White and engaged in a fun-filled pickleball match. Soon after, Mikaela Shiffrin took to her X to express anticipation over Simone Biles' new docuseries, which will hit the Netflix screens on July 17.
"Looking forward to this, @Simone_Biles"
She shared the X post of Netflix, which launched the trailer of the most awaited docuseries 'Simone Biles Rising'.
In the video montage, the four-time Olympic gold medalist talked about how the 'twisties' she faced at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics was a trauma response, leading to an abrupt Olympic withdrawal. The topic struck a chord with Shiffrin since she faced similar struggles in 2022 and received reassurance from Biles.
At the 2022 Beijing Olympics, Shiffrin was shocked at the turn of events when she failed to finish the races, revealing that she couldn't wrap her head around the situation and wished to escape. Simone Biles, having faced a similar mental state in 2020 Tokyo, extended support and said:
"I had just gone through that, so I didn't want her to feel alone." (via Olympics.com)
Mikaela Shiffrin felt that Simone Biles would be 'really good at slalom'
In an event organized by Atomic, Shiffrin candidly told Olympics.com that she found Biles to be fierce and smart, with the qualities required to excel in slalom events. She further said that the gymnast would be good at everything.
"I think she'd be really good at slalom. But I’m pretty sure she could do everything! The explosiveness helps a lot in slalom. But she's strong and she's smart, you know, she can do it all!"
In a video posted by Laureus, Simone Biles was asked to pick athletes she would like to see on different apparatuses. She picked Mikaela Shiffrin for the balance beam since she felt that Shiffrin was a 'beast in her sport'.
"On beam, I would love to see Mikaela Shiffrin, because honestly I think she’d be really good at it because she’s a beast in her sport and I think there are similarities in balance.”
In response, Shiffrin humorously reacted to Biles' claim since she felt she 'would be terrible at it [balance beam]'. But she was happy that the seven-time Olympic medalist showed confidence in her and recommended her name for the beam.
