American alpine ski racer Mikaela Shiffrin recently shared a funny comparison of her current running style to a wombat. This comes amid her recovery after surgery last month to correct a crash she faced in her native land, Killington, Vermont.
Since then, Shiffrin has been busy with her training regime and recovery sessions. Additionally, she is also quite active on her social media handles where Shiffrin took her Instagram story to a video of the running style of a wombat and stated that its running style is similar to her current jogging or running style.
Shiffrin sarcastically wrote:
"Me getting back into jogging/running"
Mikaela Shiffrin arrived in the 2024-25 season after some impressive performances in the latter half of the previous season. She had secured four top podium finishes this year before the start of the season (four Slalom victories in Flachau, Jasna, Are and Saalbach).
Mikaela Shiffrin opens up about her recovery as she hits the gym floors
Mikaela Shiffrin recently shed light on her recovery from the crash she faced in Vermont back in November.
In a recent Instagram post, Shiffrin was seen in the gym practicing various types of workout sessions. In her caption, the American skier also revealed that she has been progressing quite well in her recovery sessions and informed that her next sessions will focus on her strength.
The American alpine ski racer also said that she will be looking to practice in the slopes in the coming weeks. She further expressed her happiness about her recovery efforts and wrote:
"Making progress over here…I can move and sweat and use my body which is so exciting! This next phase of recovery is all about getting my strength and conditioning back as much as possible while working within the limitations of my obliques. Long hours of gym/rehab time but it’s coming along and I’m so happy with that. Hoping to work into some easy turns on snow in the next week or so."
In the post, Mikaela Shiffrin also mentioned following the FIS Ski World Cup races during this recovery period. Shiffrin also showed her admiration for US teammate Paula Moltzen last week after the latter produced an impressive performance in the Giant Slalom event in Austria.
