Shiffrin, who stands with the most alpine skiing World Cup wins in history, capped off her 2023/24 season with a third place in the all-around standings. She also extended her World Cup Slalom win tally to 60 and overall to 97, surpassing the legendary Lindsey Vonn and Ingemar Stenmark.

After making success, the alpine skier engaged in several off-slope activities attended different sporting events, the New York Fashion Week, the US Open finals, Taylor Swift's Eras tour, and also vacationed in Mexico with her fiance, Aleksander Kilde.

The two-time Olympic gold medalist faced a harrowing downhill setback, crashing into the safety net in Cortina d'Ampezzo. Though she returned to the slope after recovering from the injury, Mikaela Shiffrin expressed her wish to sit out of the downhill events in the forthcoming season.

"Obviously, I had that crash, and that spurred us to just kind of consider what’s the most effective way for me to train and prepare for these races. Ideally, I want to be racing more speed. I don’t want to believe it (last January) would be my last downhill race, because I love it so much, but it’s not my priority," she said at the Atomic Media Day event.

Mikaela Shiffrin also shared that winning the 100th World Cup will not be her primary goal. Her 2024/25 Alpine Skiing World Cup season will begin with the Giant Slalom in Soelden, Austria on October 26, 2024.
