Mikaela Shiffrin sympathized with NFL player Christian McCaffrey after he provided an update regarding his season-ending injury. The American skier herself went through a devastating crash recently at the World Cup in Willington.

Days after her accident, she reacted to San Francisco 49ers' running back Christian McCaffrey's season-ending knee injury. He recently shared an emotional post on social media, reflecting on his love for football. He shared his picture and wrote:

"Football is the greatest game on the planet to me. I love that you can find out exactly who you are without ever saying a word. It lifts you up and breaks you down and it can happen fast. It’s humbling in the best ways. You can do everything right and still fail. Thats life and that’s football. It’s a constant test of wills and those who just keep going tend to reap the benefits of their perseverance. This wasn’t my year, and sometimes when it rains, it pours."

Mikaela Shiffrin replied to McCaffrey's post on X and wrote:

"Heal up🙏 "

Shiffrin got injured while competing in the Giant Slalom as she crashed into the fence while reaching close to the finish line and fell short of attaining her 100th World Cup title win. She was taken to the medical center for treatment and evaluation which revealed that the skier sustained an abrasion near her hip, which has restricted her movement.

Mikaela Shiffrin shares update on her injury after the unfortunate crash

Mikaela Shiffrin met with an unfortunate incident on November 30 at the World Cup in Willington. She shared an update about her injury recently on Thursday, December 5. Shiffrin shared a video on her Instagram, explaining her situation and announcing her withdrawal from the upcoming event, i.e., the Birds of Prey World Cup. She further explained the details of her injury and revealed that she had returned home.

"So we are home now. I am so excited to be home now and be able to sleep in my own bed. Got here last night and pretty much went straight to the hospital to do a little check and see if there were any updates because there was a little bit of an original concern about my colon as there were some air bubbles where the puncture came like pretty close to the colon," said Mikaela Shiffrin.

Talking about the extent of her injury, Shiffrin added:

"Last night's check confirmed that my colon is indeed intact. We would have seen symptoms sooner but it's just good to have that confirmation. As far as the muscle trauma goes, there is a puncture and basically, whatever stabbed in there did a little dance inside of my obliques and basically tore a cavern into my obliques muscles. So, that's what's causing bleeding and inflammation and just pain in general."

This is not the first injury sustained by Mikaela Shiffrin this year; she also injured her knee in the Cortina downhill race on January 26.
