Mikaela Shiffrin and Alexander Kilde are a power couple in the skiing world. The two are each other's most vocal cheerleaders, and the American recently extended her support to her fiancé, as he paid a visit to Kitzbuhel while he recovers from the horror crash he suffered last year.

In January 2024, Kilde had been racing downhill in Wengen, Switzerland, when he crashed into the nets at an incredibly high speed. The accident resulted in a dislocated shoulder, two torn shoulder ligaments, and a severe calf laceration that required surgery.

Over the last 12 months, Kilde has been focused on recovery as he aims to return to skiing in the 2025-2026 season. On January 17, the skier paid a visit to the slopes of Kitzbuhel, as his fellow racers prepared for the World Cup in Austria. Reacting to this visit, Mikaela Shiffrin reshared a picture of Alexander Kilde in Kitzbühel on her Instagram story, writing,

“👀👀 @akikde 🥴.”

Over the years, Mikaela Shiffrin and Alexander Kilde have been vocal about their support for each other. In an interview with Olympics.com, Shiffrin called her fiancé her role model, saying,

“Alex, he has so much knowledge, so many interesting ideas and so much input about the sport and about also personality and how you should behave as a human. He is for me, he's such a role model as an athlete and also as a human. How he acts and how he treats people, his patience and his motivations. So I feel it’s equal amount of just having fun and being silly and laughing all the time, but also learning from him and thinking about better ways that I can be as a person.”

While Kilde recovers from his crash in Wengen, Mikaela Shiffrin is recovering from her own accident on the slopes. At the Killington World Cup in late 2024, the American suffered a major crash, which resulted in her having to undergo surgery for a puncture wound.

Shiffrin is still recovering from the injury and is yet to return to the snow. The 29-year-old is already the most decorated skier of all time and is only one World Cup victory away from the 100-win mark, a feat no one else has accomplished.
