Mikaela Shiffrin's fiancé, Aleksander Kilde, and the CEO of Hugo Boss, Daniel Grieder, shared a frame at a ski location and wished New Year's. Kilde has been missing the 2024/25 alpine skiing World Cup season due to injuries he suffered the past season.
Mikaela Shiffrin's fiancé faced a harrowing downhill crash at Wengen, Switzerland, in January 2024. He was left with a lacerated calf and a dislocated shoulder, among other injuries. With his fiancée by his side, Kilde recovered after a long rehabilitation process and even took the slopes in June last year.
Amid the injury setback, he and Shiffrin got engaged in April and even took a trip to Mexico. Shortly after spending Christmas and New Year's with his loved ones, Kilde posed with the CEO of his partner brand, Hugo Boss, welcoming the New Year with ski sessions.
"Happy New Year! Excited to start 2025 after welcoming the new year doing one of my favorite winter sports together with @akilde. Wishing everyone a fantastic year ahead!" wrote Daniel Grieder, the CEO of Hugo Boss.
Mikaela Shiffrin's fiancé shared the post with a snowflake and a muscular arm emoji in his Instagram story.
On October 23, 2024, the Norwegian skier updated about another shoulder surgery to address the injury of the past year, thus ruling out participation in the ongoing World Cup season. As per his Instagram post, he said:
"The issue here is that the infection was so aggressive and was there in my shoulder for a long time, so it was eating on my bone, and that meaning that all the hardware and everything that was in my shoulder need to go out. So two of the muscles is still not attached at this moment, which means I need to do another surgery and reconstruct everything again."
Kilde won 21 World Cup gold podiums, silver, and bronze at the Olympic Games.
Mikaela Shiffrin's fiance Aleksander Kilde returned to 'cruising' with the doctor's permission
On December 7, 2024, Mikaela Shiffrin's fiancé, Aleksander Kilde, hit the slopes two months after his surgery announcement. He was seen in form with ski gear, skiing down the European slopes. Ecstatic to have returned to his sport, the 32-year-old said that his doctors permitted him to ski.
"Doc’s gave me permission to do some cruising, and trust me I’m soaking it in," he captioned.
He posted another photo of himself, expressing contentment after skiing.
"With full batteries back to europe 🔋 and yes, the ski boots felt pretty good."
Kilde took the 2020-21 overall World Cup title and reached a personal best number of podiums in the following season.
