Mikaela Shiffrin expresses her feelings about competing in front of a home crowd next week
Mikaela Shiffrin opened up about her thought process of competing in front of a home crowd in Killington, Vermont next weekend.
In an interview after her 99th World Cup victory, Shiffrin stated that she is looking to ignore the outside pressure of clinching her 100th World Cup win in Vermont. She also mentioned that even if her victory doesn't come next weekend, it won't have a great effect on her long-term planning. She said (via ESPN):
"I guess there is a bit of pressure around it, but I'll try to ignore that. Anyway, if it happens, it's wonderful. If it doesn't happen, kind of nothing to cry about in the grand scheme. But I hope to have a really good performance in front of the home crowd."
The 29-year-old has six World Cup race victories in Killington, Vermont. However, Shiffrin hasn't registered any Giant Slalom victory there across her decorated career.
