Mikaela Shiffrin celebrated the Christmas holidays with her fiancé Aleksander Kilde, mother Eileen Shiffrin, and brother and sister-in-law Taylor and Kristiana Shiffrin. The alpine skier is recovering from a harrowing crash she suffered in November.

Shiffrin extended her World Cup medal tally to 99 in the 2024/25 World Cup season before ending Killington's giant slalom race in a crash. She suffered a deep puncture near her hip, which was "damn close to piercing some organs," as she confirmed on social media.

On December 14, Shiffrin posted about an unexpected surgery she underwent after finding out that a cavity deeper than the wound tract was filled with hematoma. Though the most decorated alpine skier hasn't yet announced her return to the World Cup circuit, she celebrated Christmas with her close ones and shared glimpses on Instagram.

The first two pictures in Mikaela Shiffrin's carousel featured the alpine skier in a white sweatshirt, posing before a lit-up Christmas tree. Her fiancé Aleksander Kilde danced in a clip she shared as the third slide. She also captured her brother Taylor's reaction to receiving a gift.

In another clip, Shiffrin opens a gift box, unveiling three beaded wristbands making the quote, "Be nice, think first, and have fun," together. Moved by the gesture, the alpine skier said:

"Uh oh. Here come the tears. This so sweet."

The following pictures had a dog wearing 'antlers' and group photos of the family. The post was captioned:

"Happy Holidays," with a blue heart emoji.

In addition to unfurling her prowess on the World Cup circuit, Mikaela Shiffrin amassed two Olympic gold medals in the 2014 and 2018 editions.

Still in the running for her 100th World Cup, Mikaela Shiffrin has been updating about her health progression. In an Instagram post from three days ago, she shared three positive things that happened to her the past week, per her best friend's request.

"So the three positive things that happened this week, number one I can laugh, number two I can start driving this week, and number three like too excited about this one, my abs are starting to come back. Okay it's not without so much effort. But it's very excitins," Mikaela Shiffrin said.

The post caption said:

"What are 3 positive things that have happened to YOU this week? 3…2…1…GO!"

Shiffrin got engaged to her long-time boyfriend Aleksander Kilde on April 5, 2024. The latter, an alpine skier from Norway, sat out the 2024/25 alpine skiing World Cup circuit due to an injury he suffered in the previous season.
