"Mikaela Shiffrin was in shock"- American Alpine skier's team shares a detailed update after heartbreaking crash at the World Cup in Killington

Mikaela Shiffrin's teams shared a detailed update about the American Alpine skier's condition after a devastating crash during her appearance at the World Cup in Killington. Her appearance at the particular World Cup held great significance as Shiffrin was aiming to register her 100th World Cup Victory.

Despite having a good start, tragedy struck the skier before the finish line as she lost balance and crashed into the protective fencing on the course. She was soon taken for a medical examination for further evaluation. As she was being carried on by the team on a sled, Shiffrin waved to her fans which gave them a sense of relief. However, fans were eager to get an update on the skier's condition after the crash.

Mikaela Shiffrin's team took to social media to release a statement and share an update on her condition.

"After the crash, Mikaela was in shock, unable to move, and concerned about internal organ trauma. While she's incredibly grateful there's no ligament or bone damage, the puncture wound on her abdomen and severe muscle trauma make it impossible for her to compete or even walk well at the moment," read the statement.
"Missing this race, which means so much to her, is heartbreaking, but her priority is healing. She'll be cheering loudly for her teammates from home in Killington as she focuses on taking the time needed for a full recovery," the team added.

Mikaela Shiffrin took to social media to share a video from the medical center as she was getting her wounds treated. The American Alpine skier revealed that she had suffered an abrasion on her hip as a result of the impact which restricted her movement.

However, the situation was under control due to the swift action of the medical team.

"Hi guys not too much cause for concern right it's just that I just can't move. I have a pretty good abrasion and something stabbbed me under her fingers. It's just so that I can't move. I am so sorry to scare everybody and it looks like all the scans are clear so far," she said.
"Thank you for the suppport and concern and congratulations to the winners and my teammmates for their performances. On more thing to add as I am just actually seeing the results Paul and Nina also with career bests just very happy for you guys," she added.

The American is yet to release her plans for her upcoming race as she would be focusing on her recovery to return to the slopes as soon as possible.
