Mikaela Shiffrin recently teamed up with former snowboarding legend Shaun White to play pickleball. The latter launched the Snow League, his new season-long half-pipe venture offering a $1.5 million prize purse. The league will commence in March next year and extend till the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Mikaela Shiffrin, 29, is considered the most decorated alpine skier in history with 97 World Cup wins. She outpaced Swedish legend Ingemar Stenmark and fellow American skier Lindsey Vonn to become the youngest racer to cross the 80-win mark.

Sharing a strong bond with World No. 1 tennis player Iga Swiatek, Shiffrin wished to join the Polish player in tennis sometimes. However, she fulfilled her wish in a nearly similar court setting at Sport Beach 2024. The three-time Olympic gold medalist Shaun White launched his new league, the Snow League, a season-long half-pipe league which will offer lucrative cash prizes.

White and Shiffrin, in their sports attires, were spotted playing pickleball at Sport Beach 2024 hosted by Stagwell Global. In an adrenaline-filled bout, the Olympians showed off their reflexes, playing in the same team.

Taking to his Instagram story, White posted a story captioned:

"Pickleball Monday!" tagging Mikaela Shiffrin.

Shiffrin also posted a story on her Instagram, capturing the duo from a different angle.

The half-pipe specialist started his career with the mindset of taking snowboarding and skateboarding to newer heights. For years, athletes have struggled to amass decent cash prizes and medals at the Olympic level. White's initiative will look to address this issue.

Mikaela Shiffrin has not only garnered love and respect for her phenomenal skiing skills but also her versatility outside the slopes. Having a passion for dancing, the two-time Olympic gold medalist shared how her hobby helped her ski better over the years.

In an interview with Vail Daily, the 29-year-old said:

“It’s just like an expression of your body. “Everybody has a style of skiing; I think everybody also has a little bit of a style of dancing. I tend to be pretty stiff with my arms when I’m skiing and when I’m dancing, it’s the same, so it’s things that sort of translate across just the way your body moves.”

Recently, she took to Instagram to laud another tennis icon Roger Federer on his Dartmouth College speech, addressing the Class of 2024.

When she is not skiing, Mikaela Shiffrin explores other sporting passions.
