The 2024 FIS Alpine Skiing season is scheduled to begin later this month, but Mikaela Shiffrin isn't happy with the broadcast situation for the races. The American recently expressed concern over the lack of centralized broadcast rights in skiing while informing fans how they could tune in to watch the World Cup season.
For Shiffrin, this year will mark her 15th season on the slopes. Over the last fourteen years, she has dominated the sport and is widely considered to be one of the best skiers of all time.
Now, the 2024-2025 World Cup season is scheduled to kick off in Soelden, Austria, on October 26, but fans wanting to tune in to watch their favorite skiers can sometimes get a little confused.
Addressing this, the official X account of the US Ski and Snowboard team posted on X,
“U.S. Ski & Snowboard athletes are ready for another busy season of competing worldwide, and we’re here to break down how you can watch all the action. Broadcast rights are not centralized, which means that every country has the right to sell their World Cup broadcast - and though it can be confusing and frustrating, there are THREE main ways to tune into the 2024-25 season action with @outsidemagazine, skiandsnowboard.live and the NBC family (NBC/CNBC/USA/Peacock).”
Sharing this post on her own X handle, Mikaela Shiffrin expressed her disappointment over the sport’s broadcast system, writing,
“It may not be the most ideal situation, because broadcast rights for our sport are not yet centralized, but here are the details for how to watch this year’s @fisalpine World Cup.”
