Shilese Jones is missing her uneven bars practice sessions in the gym after pulling out of the US gymnastics Olympic trials, citing an injury. She sustained an injury while training on the very first day of the competition, which led to her withdrawal from the competition.

Jones produced a staunch performance at the US Core Hydration Classic 2024, where she claimed second place in the all-around competition with a score of 57.650. Along with this, the gymnast also earned an impressive score of 15.250 to stand atop the podium at the US Classic. This event was the first time when Jones realized that she had sustained a shoulder injury.

Soon after, Jones withdrew from Xfinity US Gymnastics to prepare and focus on a risk-free performance at the US Olympic trials. Unfortunately, she faced a hurtful fate while training in the vault on the first day of the trials, injuring her left knee. This forced the gymnast to pull out of the trials and put an end to her Paris Olympics dream.

Days after the decision, Shilese Jones stated that she was missing her training sessions. She took to X and shared an old video of her training for the uneven bars and wrote:

Shilese Jones receives a heartfelt message from Gabby Douglass post withdrawal

Gabby Douglass shared a heartfelt message for Shilese Jones on her withdrawal from the Paris Olympics. Douglass, who is a 2012 Olympic all-around gold medalist, also withdrew from the 2024 Olympic trials, after sustaining an ankle injury during training.

The gymnast related to Jones' situation and shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, which carried a picture of both the gymnasts hugging each other. She also reassured Shiles Jones of her talent, mentioning that she was proud of her.

"I'm completely heartbroken. @shicanfly no one deserved it more. I know you will come back stronger and greater," wrote Gabby Douglass. "I am so proud of everything you;'ve accomplished. Sendiing you healing, warmth, and love. I love you so so much. Forever and always."

The two competed with each other at the US Classic, and Jones was excited to compete with Gabby Douglass. She showcased her excitement in an interview and said (via Inside Gymnastics):

"It's the first competition with all the athletes coming back and I'm super excited to be competing with Gabby, especially, and just having fun, just getting my feet wet and boosting my confidence going into the next competition."

Shilese Jones is a two-time World Champion gold medalist and has attained a total of six World Championship medals in her career. The 21-year-old is also a two-time US National Champion on uneven bars and floor exercise.
