Five-time Olympic gold medalist, Missy Franklin, recently caught up with the young basketball star from Indiana Fever, Caitlin Clark. This happened during the fourth day of the ongoing US Olympic Swimming Trials in Indiana.
Clark came as a part of the Indiana Fever WNBA team that was facilitated on Tuesday (June 18) before the proceedings of the final session of the Women in Sports night. Besides Clark, other members of the team such as the 2021 FIBA AmeriCup gold medalists Aliyah Boston and Grace Berger, were also present in the arena along with the head coach of their team, Christie Sides.
All the members of the team were welcomed with a loud cheer from the crowd as the names of the players were announced one by one. They were also given various goodies such as sunglasses and insulator cups during the ceremony.
However, during this facilitation, the event that stood out was the meet-up between two strong female personalities, Missy Franklin and Caitlin Clark. Both Franklin and Clark spared a minute and clicked some photos together. The 29-year-old former swimmer took to her Instagram handle to share the photos that she snapped with Clark. She wrote in the caption:
"Tonight has been a freaking great night you guys"

Missy Franklin recently opened up about her father's kidney disease in 2022 which required an immediate kidney transplant back then. Even though the incident happened over two years ago, those few months still remain vividly in Franklin's memory.
In a recent interview with Fox News, Franklin opened up about the time when they got a donor in the form of Crissy Perham (former American swimmer and Olympian) for her father. She said:
"The fact that we got to match at all, the fact that my dad got a living donor at all, is such a miracle and such a gift. And then the fact that she was an Olympic gold medalist in swimming, it's just like it's so unreal."
She added:
"There's not a minute that I spend with my dad that I don't think of Crissy because I literally would not have had that time and those moments with him if it were not for her and what she did for us."
Ever since this incident, Franklin has been an advocate for raising awareness among the communities about kidney disorders and has also tied up with Otsuka America Pharmaceutical Inc. to this end.
