Mondo Duplantis' fiancée, Desire Inglander, has sparked speculations about the couple's marriage with a Q&A session posted on her social media. The couple got engaged on October 9 after Duplantis proposed to her during their photoshoot for Vogue Scandinavia.
The pole vault champion surprised his then-girlfriend by proposing to her in the middle of a shoot for Vogue Scandinavia in the Hamptons. He sat on one knee with a diamond ring on the beach, and Inglander initially thought of it as a joke. However, on realizing the seriousness of the moment, she immediately responded with a 'yes'.
On November 6, Mondo Duplantis' fiancee seemingly gave a hint about their wedding via her Instagram story. Sharing a picture of her and Duplantis on a yacht, Inglander added a Q&A sticker and asked:
"Any wedding planners out there?"
As reported by PEOPLE magazine, the two first met at a Midsummer party in 2020 in Sweden, and the pole vault champion wanted to set up a date with her. While Inglander hesitated initially, Duplantis' persistent efforts made the model agree to a date, and the two have been together since then.
Mondo Duplantis opened up about his 'nervousness' while proposing
Mondo Duplantis opened up about his state of mind during the proposal in an interview with Vogue Scandinavia. The two-time Olympic gold medalist claimed that proposing to Desire was the 'most nervous' he'd ever felt.
"I can safely say it's the most nervous I've been in my life. I had a few lines that I thought I was going to say, but I lost my words. I completely froze," Mondo Duplantis said.
Furthermore, Duplantis also talked about how Desire Inglander brings 'balance' to his life, saying:
“Desiré brings me such a great balance in life. It’s so nice to be able to come home and escape into a completely different world, absorb ourselves in each other and whatever we’re doing."
The couple became the talk of the town during the Paris Olympics after a video went viral of Mondo Duplantis hugging his girlfriend following his world record win at the pole vault event.
The 24-year-old had an incredible 2024 season as he surpassed his own world record three times. Duplantis recorded the first record of this season at the Xiamen Diamond League by leaping 6.24m and continued his dominance at the 2024 Summer Games, where he soared to the height of 6.25m. His last world record of the season was set in the Silesia Diamond League, where he reached 6.26m.
