Mondo Duplantis solidified his status as one of the greatest athletes in pole vault history after breaking the world record for the 10th time, clearing 6.25 meters, and retaining his Olympic gold medal at the Paris Games.

In October 2024, just after his successful Olympic performance, the pole vault champion got engaged to his long-time girlfriend, Desiré Inglander. He said that the proposal was meticulously planned and described it as more nerve-wracking than competing in high-stakes championships. In an interview with olympics.com, Duplantis shared that the idea of proposing came to him during his flight back from the Paris Olympics.

"This is way more nerve-wracking (than competing). The second after the Olympics was done, I was ready to do it," he said. (olympics.com)
