Mondo Duplantis' fiancée Desire Inglander shares 3-word message for 2024 as she recounts journey with Olympic champion

Mondo Duplantis' fiancée Desire Inglander has expressed gratitude for a blissful 2024 that saw her get engaged to the Olympic champion. The couple has been dating since 2020 and got engaged in October 2024.

On Friday, Inglander shared 16 pictures on her Instagram handle, recounting her memories from 2024 with Duplantis. The Swedish model recalled their engagement ceremony, their viral kiss at the 2024 Paris Olympics after the pole vaulter won his gold medal, her modeling photoshoots, and a few pictures of the couple on vacation.

Expressing her gratitude for the year, she wrote:

"Forever grateful. 2024🤍."

Duplantis caught the 23-year-old by surprise during an October Vogue Scandinavia shoot in East Hampton, New York. When the Olympic champion got down on one knee and brought out the ring, Inglander thought it was a joke before an emotional yes came out of her mouth. Reflecting on the moment after a few months, she told Vogue Scandinavia:

“When I look back at everything I’m like, ‘What just happened?’ I’m just looking at me as a young kid, I would have never believed myself if I saw this."

Meanwhile, Duplantis claimed to be freezing and nervous during the moment despite having been preparing for it for months.

“I can safely say it’s the most nervous I’ve been in my life. I had a few lines that I thought I was going to say, but I lost my words. I completely froze,” Mondo Duplantis told the magazine after the surprise proposal.

In the following weeks, the couple also started planning for their wedding ceremony as Inglander started the search for wedding planners.

Mondo Duplantis and Desire Ingalnder met for the first time at a Midsummer party in 2020, and while it seemed like a chance meeting, the Olympic champion had suspected her presence at the event. He had DMed the Swedish model before but hadn't gotten a response.

“He DM’d me months before, like February that year," she told Vogue Scandinavia.

When Duplantis tried to talk with her and set up a date for the party, the conversation didn't go smoothly with Inglander claiming she was in no mood to get into a relationship. As a result, Duplantis felt he was rejected.

“I had just graduated high school, I was not interested in anybody at the time. He felt like I had rejected him right away," she added.

However, the 24-year-old was persistent in his efforts and managed to set up a date before flying off to the United States to train for the Tokyo Olympics, where he made his debut and won the gold medal.
