Mondo Duplantis' fiancée Desire Inglander shares 'dream come true' moment after getting engaged to pole vaulter

Swedish pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis' fiancee Desire Inglander was overjoyed after getting engaged to the athlete and recently shared her "dream come true" moment. The couple got engaged after dating for four years, having met at a midsummer party in Stockholm.

Recently, Duplantis popped the question in a surprise proposal he arranged in East Hampton, New York, while he and Inglander were shooting for Vogue Scandinavia. The 24-year-old Swedish-American pole vaulter also shared that he had started planning the proposal right after he won the gold medal at the Paris Olympics in August, where he broke his own world record for the ninth time.

"This is way more nerve-wracking [than competing]," he told Vogue Scandinavia about the proposal.

"I’m still shocked,” Inglander said about the surprise proposal. "I’m such a control freak, it’s impossible to surprise me."

Following the engagement, Mondo Duplantis also planned a surprise getaway to Louisiana for his 23-year-old girlfriend along with both of their families and close friends to celebrate the engagement.

In an update from their engagement celebration, Desire Inglander shared a story on her Instagram featuring a group of people gathered on a beach setting at sunset. They sat around a bonfire on large cushions and blankets spread along the beachside. There were tables set up for meals at the picturesque location, and the scene was decorated with candles and flowers.

"The people I love the most in one place is a dream come true," she wrote in the caption.

In an August conversation with Vogue Scandinavia, Mondo Duplantis said that Desire has been a positive influence in his personal life as she brings balance to his hectic professional schedule. He also emphasized that Inglander makes for a wonderful travel partner.

"Desire brings me such a great balance in life. It’s so nice to be able to come home and escape into a completely different world, absorb ourselves in each other and whatever we’re doing. She’s a great travel buddy."

While talking about Mondo, Desire remarked:

"Mondo is the complete opposite. But he’s taught me to just let it happen, let it flow. He brings me down to earth."

However, Mondo Duplantis once noted that she was not interested in him when they first met at the party.
