Gabby Thomas won three golds at the recently concluded Paris Olympics. She was recently seen replying to several comments from her admirers and opened up about her iconic wins a few days after the conclusion of the Summer Games.
Thomas produced a stellar performance in the 200m dash, where she stood atop the podium after clocking a time of 21.83s. Julien Alfred and Britanny Brown secured second and third place after recording 22.08s and 22.20s, respectively.
The 27-year-old also competed in the 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay, clinching gold in both events. Thomas and her 4x100m relay teammates Melissa Jefferson, Twanisha Terry, and Sha'Carri Richardson clocked 41.78s to stand atop the podium. Similarly, in the 4x400m relay, she, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Shamier Little, and Alexis Holmes attained victory after clocking an American record of 3:15.27.
A few days after these terrific wins, Thomas was seen replying to her fans' comments in an interview with GQ Sports. While going through the comments, she opened up about her Paris Olympics wins. One of the comments carried all the achievements of the athlete's life, including her Harvard degree, her public health degree, her being a volunteer at a health clinic in Austin, and her very recent three Olympic gold medals in Paris.
The American read out the comment and replied:
"Wow. Thank you Joshua Sanchez (fan's name), that is really really sweet of you. I think my three gold medals in the Paris Olympics probably trumps everything that I've done. That being said, the work that i do at the health clinic is really fulfilling. I love that people are inspired by what I do."
Thomas also opened up about the support she received from the Unc and Ocho podcast, hosted by Shannon Sharpe and Ochocinco Johnson, who gifted her $25k for her wins.
"I love these guys and they're also just really awesome for gifting us money because they know that in track and field, we don't make too much, and it's just very supportive," said Thomas.
She further opened up about Snoop Dogg's support, saying:
"Snoop dogg came out to the track and right after I ran it he actually called and congraatulated me and said he was very proud of me which was very exciting."
Gabby Thomas received kind words from Sha'Carri Richardson after the Paris Olympics
Gabby Thomas and Sha'Carri Richardson ran alongside each other in the 4x100m relay at the Paris Olympics and clinched gold. Following the race, Richardson opened up about how Thomas motivated her during the race.
"I don't hear anybody else but Gabby. If it's not her voice, I can't hear it," Richardson said via Refinery29. "Everything else is a blur. Gabby’s voice automatically sends me into a place of determination and it sends me into a place of I know what time it is."
Richardson further said that Thomas trusted her with the race and transferred her energy too.
"I know she did her part. Now she is trusting me. Now she is believing in me. Now she is expecting me. She has every right to, because she did her thing to get me to go into a different phase, to continue to transfer that energy and that speed in which we did. So she gives me the stick. She says, “Stick!” I get the stick. And she tells me to “Go! Go!” She doesn't stop after just telling me to get the stick. She’s encouraging me on the way down the track," she added.
Gabby Thomas is the first American sprinter to win three Olympic gold medals since Allyson Felix at the 2012 London Olympics.
