"My baby is living it up" - Jordan Chiles' mother on Paris 2024 medalist's appearance at MTV Video Music Awards

Jordan Chiles' mother Gina reacted to her daughter's appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards. The gymnast was presented with a bronze watch chain from rapper Flavor Flav during the event.

Chiles was at the forefront of a major controversy at the Paris Olympics, as she had to return her floor exercise bronze medal after an appeal to CAS from Romania.

At the time, rapper Flavor Flav promised to give the gymnast a bronze clock necklace.

"Imma make you a BRONZE CLOCK NECKLACE,,, and that’s something NO ONE else has!!! Hit me up my girl," the 65-year-old wrote on X.

Flav eventually kept his word as he gave Chiles the necklace during the MTV Video Music Awards. when the two were presenting the award for best collaboration. The 23-year-old's mother reacted to her appearance during the ceremony, stating:

"My baby @ChilesJordan is living it up at the @vmas! You did so good presenting with @FlavorFlav and the bronze clock. Now you are dancing with @taylorswift and looking gorgeous!! That smile says it all! So soooo so happy for you."

Jordan Chiles, however, did not return from Paris Olympics empty-handed, as she won a gold medal as part of the American contingent that won the all-around team event.

Speaking at the Forbes Power Women's Summit, Chiles spoke about losing her bronze medal, stating that she felt like she did in 2018 when she had to deal with an abusive coach. The 23-year-old said that she has lost her love of gymnastics.

"I felt like back in 2018 when I did lose the love of the sport. I've lost it again. I just did felt like there wasn't a lot of people supporting me who I thought could support me in that situation. I felt like I was really left in the dark. I was in a situation of dealing with the coach, who emotionally and verbally abused me. I didn't have the ability to use my voice or be heard," Chiles said as quoted by Fox.

Apart from her Paris Olympics performances, the 23-year-old finished third in the all-around event at the Core Hydration Classic. She also competed at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships, finishing second in the uneven bars event. At the Olympic trials, Jordan Chiles was the runner-up in vault while finishing third in all-around, uneven bars, and floor exercise.
