Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Masai Russell, Jordan Chiles, and a few other athletes sympathized with Los Angeles. The city caught fire on Tuesday, burning more than 1000 structures in Los Angeles County.
The wind emerged from Pacific Palisades in LA and has increased as powerful winds have hit the northwest of the city, leading to the evacuation of 30,000 residents. This unfortunate incident took the lives of five people, and the fire has now spread over 15,800 acres with no containment.
Sympathizing with the situation, several athletes from various sports ranges have sent their prayers for everyone experiencing the wrath of the accident. One of the athletes to share well-wishes for the victims of the LA fire was the American Olympian Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone. She wrote a note on her Instagram story that read:
"Pray for Los Angeles🙏 "
Following her, Masai Russell reshared a post about the fire from a news channel on her Instagram story and added a heartbreaking note that said:
"Sending love and prayers to everyone in LA right now. This is so heartbreaking💔 "
Another athlete to extend their sympathy for the fire was gymnast Jordan Chiles, who sent her prayers for everyone experiencing the accident and also gave assurance about her safety.
"My heart is broken but also want to say I am safe.. I am praying for everyone😞🙏 "
Along with these athletes, American sprinter Athing Mu also voiced her concern about the incident and shared a picture of Pacific Palisades on her social media.

Apart from this ongoing situation, the athletes are currently gearing up for their upcoming 2025 season.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, who became the world record holder of the 400m hurdles at the Paris Olympics, shared an inspiring message ahead of her 2025 season. She took to her Instagram handle on January 8, sharing a picture of her and adding a note in the caption, where she expressed her feelings through a Bible verse.
"Walk with grace, though the path is narrow even when peace seems far no matter the distance to go though the flesh is weak keep walking in His will not by your own strength walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you’ve been called even if you walk alone, you’re never truly alone fix your eyes ahead, where He is waiting though valleys will come and arrows will be drawn keep walking in faith Walk with grace," wrote Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone.
The 25-year-old is currently gearing up for Michael Johnson's Grand Slam Track's debut edition, slated for April to September 2025.
