Allyson Felix penned a heartfelt note for her first-born daughter Camryn on her sixth birthday. Felix faced several complications when pregnant with Camryn but the latter soon became her biggest supporter, even attending track events and accompanying to training.

Felix, the most decorated track and field woman in Olympic history, won two golds and a silver at the 2016 Rio Olympics and three medals at the 2017 Worlds before reducing racing in 2018. She was pregnant with her first child and gave birth to her on November 29 of that year.

As revealed later, Felix was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia when she was 32 weeks pregnant. The condition that shoots up high blood pressure levels, prevalent in African-American women, called for a C-section within 48 hours of diagnosis. After delivery, the decreasing heart rate of the child prompted the health professionals to keep her in the neonatal intensive care unit for a month.

Cut to 2024, the little one who faced a near-death experience, celebrated her sixth birthday on November 29. The most decorated Olympian in track and field history took to her Instagram handle to post photos of Camryn's journey from birth to a girl of six.

Allyson Felix's heartfelt caption read:

"Happy 6th Birthday to my Cammy! You are truly a blessing from God, and I thank Him every day for the gift of being your mom. You are smart, independent, creative, strong-willed, silly, thoughtful, and so sweet! You changed my world forever in the best way, and my love for you is endless."

Having faced a complicated pregnancy and almost losing her child, Felix stepped up to vocalize the need to implement better healthcare for Black American women during pregnancy.

In May 2019, Allyson Felix testified in front of a House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee, shedding light on maternal health and mortality, keeping her experience as an example.

Allyson Felix and her husband Kenneth Ferguson welcomed their second child, Trey, on April 10, 2024. In an interview with People, the track legend expressed how much she wants her kids to experience the joy of sports. She talked about letting Camryn choose her sport now when she started swimming and tennis and enjoys both.

"She's playing tennis, she's swimming, she's having fun, she's being a kid. And so I just want her to try everything and maybe she'll find something that she enjoys. All that matters is fun," the 11-time Olympic medalist said.

In 2024, Felix built a nursery at the Paris Olympic Village, providing an opportunity for athlete parents to bond with their kids.
