Nebraska Cornhuskers Women's Volleyball player Andi Jackson expressed her admiration for fellow middle blocker Leyla Blackwell as the season comes to a close after the conclusion of the NCAA Volleyball championships.
Both Jackson and Blackwell competed together for the Huskers in the season and have curated a strong bond with each other. Jackson took to her Instagram handle to share a few glimpses of her with Blackwell as she admitted to missing her fellow middle blocker.
The posts featured their time together after winning the Big Ten title and also from the dressing room and flights. In her caption, Blackwell shed light on the fun and enjoyment they had while spending their time together throughout this season.
She wrote:
"Missing you extra, loving you always! Here’s to the best 6 months filled with house music, prickly pear infusions, and sweet treats."
"My andi! Missing you already sister" Blackwell commented under the post.
The 2024-25 season was Leyla Blackwell's fifth collegiate season. She competed for Nebraska for just one year, having previously served stints at Indiana and San Diego.
In the five seasons of her collegiate career, Blackwell has amassed a tally of 718 kills and 65 digs. Additionally, she was awarded Nebraska's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award this season.
Nebraska Women's Volleyball assistant coach shares kind words for Andi Jackson
Nebraska Cornhuskers Women's Volleyball Assistant Coach, Jordan Larson heaped praises on Andi Jackson. This came just a couple of months back during the Big Ten Championships.
In an interview, Larson stated that Jackson's hits are one of the 'coolest' things due to their sheer pace. She also mentioned the selflessness and hardworking capability of Jackson which has contributed so much to her successes.
She said (via Husker Corner):
"It’s just like, yeah, just keep hitting. And she hits with such pace that it's, yeah. I mean, and I think one of the coolest things is just Andi’s just such a light out there. Like her energy, her vibe, like her, I mean, so selfless and just wants to be; she's such a hard worker, which explains why, you know, she does so well.”
Andi Jackson had an impressive year in 2024 where she secured 299 kills, two assists, 122 block assists, and 26 digs. She also won her second conference (Big Ten) title with the team this year.
