Nebraska Volleyball established its position as a dominant force in women's athletics, achieving financial success and on-course excellence. In the 2023-2024 fiscal year, the Huskers ended with an impressive profit of $1.3 million, a notable achievement in women's sports.

A defining moment of the season was Volleyball Day in Nebraska, which set a world record for attendance at the women's sporting event, drawing 92,003 fans at the Nebraska-Omaha match in 2023. The event generated $2.7 million in revenue, contributing an estimated profit of $850,000.

Beyond its financial success, the event sparked widespread interest in volleyball and created unforgettable memories for players and spectators. The event also boosted the economy, contributing $6.7 million to Lincoln.

In January 2025, Huskers Illustrated shared the news on their official website and X, highlighting the program's success with a caption:

"Nebraska Volleyball continues to set the standard in women's athletics as it turned a profit of $1.3 million for the 2023-24 fiscal year. During the 2023 season, the Huskers hosted Volleyball Day in Nebraska and reached the national title match."

Overall, the Huskers generated more than $7 million in revenue during the fiscal year, ranking third among revenue-producing sports at the university. Ticket sales contributed $2.57 million, an increase of $300,000 from the previous year. Income from game programs, novelties, parking, and concessions nearly doubled to $1.79 million, while other revenue surged nearly twelvefold, rising from $152,502 to $1.81 million.

The program's expenses totaled $5.91 million, with the largest portion allocated to coaching salaries. Head coach John Cook earned $976,333, including bonuses for reaching the national championship match. The three assistant coaches collectively earned $436,709 while $102,354 was allocated for compensation during the beach volleyball season. Support staff expenses amounted to $370,857. Travel costs, including charter flights, totaled $857,791, while overall game-related expenses reached $1.1 million.

These financial figures, combined with the growing influence of NIL deals, underscore how Nebraska Volleyball's strategic investments and athlete partnerships are propelling its competitive success and expanding its national profile.

Women's Nebraska Volleyball players are benefitting from the NCAA's Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) policy, which allows collegiate athletes to monetize their brands.

The shift has opened new opportunities for Husker's athletes, securing lucrative partnerships and amplifying the visibility of women's sports. Since the initiative's launch, NIL compensation in women's volleyball has surged by 935 percent, reflecting the growing popularity of the sport and the athletes.

Prominent players like senior Lexi Rodriguez and freshman Harper Murray are at the forefront of this NIL movement. Rodriguez made history as the first female NIL athlete signed by Panini America, a prominent collectibles brand. Meanwhile, Murray secured a deal with Sho Brand Voli, a volleyball-focused company, underscoring the increasing market value of women's volleyball stars.

Companies like Opendorse, founded by former Nebraska football players, have played a key role in connecting athletes with NIL opportunities. In addition to national partnerships, local support bolstered Nebraska Volleyball's NIL success. Fans and businesses have shown their backing by purchasing merchandise, supporting sponsorship initiatives, and buying from companies that endorse Husker athletes.

For Nebraska Volleyball, NIL deals represent more than just financial gain. They mark a transformative moment for women's collegiate sports. As compensation grows, so does the recognition and respect for female athletes, raising the sport's profile across local and national levels.
