Defending champ, Tamirat Tola, will be the first name to watch out for in the 2024 event. Belgian marathoner, Bashir Abdi will be another probable candidate to win the men's elite field on Sunday. Abdi is a two-time Olympic medalist and also has three top-three finishes in the Marathon majors events.

With two top victories in the New York City Marathon in 2017 and 2019, Geoffrey Kamworor is also a part of this list. Kamworor is a World Championship silver medalist and also has four World Half Marathon championship victories to his name. However, the Kenyan hasn't participated in any marathon events this year and has competed in just one cross-country race across his 2024 season.
