Simone Biles defended herself and hit back at her critics for all their comments about the way she maintains her hair. The American urged fans to not comment on how Black girls should keep their hair, emphasizing the difficulties she and others face due to various factors outside their control.

Over the years, Biles has faced a lot of criticism online about her hairstyle. It was most noticeable when she shared the images from her marriage. Many comments focused on her appearance and pointed to how her hair looked unkempt and that her edges were not slicked back.

"I used to worry about my hair being considered not professional. But I'm not embarrassed about it anymore. Most of the backlash we get is from our own community, which is unfortunate. I don’t really care if my edges aren’t smooth," Simone Biles said in a recent interview with ELLE.

The American, who is currently competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics, took to social media on Tuesday (July 30) to state that her hair was bound to get messy even though she took care of it, thanks to the weather in the French capital.

"Don't come for me about my hair. IT WAS DONE but NO AC & it's like 9,000 degrees; oh and a 45 min ride," she said on her Instagram stories.
"Gonna hold your hand when I say this; next time you wanna comment on a black girls hair, JUST DON'T," she added.

The US women's gymnastics team will be in action in the team final at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Tuesday.

Simone Biles and her teammates Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, and Hezly Rivera were dominant in the qualifying and will head into the final as the favorites to clinch gold. They are scheduled to be in action at 12:15 p.m. ET.

There were injury concerns surrounding Biles as she had tweaked her calf in qualifying and competed with her left ankle taped. However, her coach Cecile Landi has confirmed that there are no concerns about the 27-year-old's fitness.

Biles, the most decorated athlete in the history of gymnastics, will be looking to take home her fifth Olympic gold medal and seventh overall.
