Nina Dobrev shares common ground with Lindsey Vonn as they recover from a knee injury

Nina Dobrev is taking inspiration from former Alpine skiing star Lindsey Vonn, as both are recovering from their knee injuries. Vonn had undergone a partial knee replacement surgery in April 2024 to get a permanent solution for her long-standing struggles with knee pain.

Dobrev injured her knee and ruptured her ACL after she lost control of a bike. The actor attempted a wheelie when she lost control and sustained several injuries. The Canadian had to undergo knee surgery to recover from the devastating fall.

"When I landed, I landed on one leg straight, and my knee just, like, snapped,” she said in June (as quoted by USA Today).

Lindsey Vonn seems to have helped Nina Dobrev, who is recovering at a faster pace with various rehab methods as well as constant icing.

Moreover, they found out they were sharing common ground when they met and were wearing kneecaps to aid their recovery process. The Vampire Diaries actress took to her Instagram stories and shared about the encounter.

"My little knee buddy. Yeah, broken knees unite," she said in a video.

"Friends that crutch together, stay together @lindseyvonn. ( Lindsey is ahead of me in her healing journey, she is not on crutches anymore but you get it.)," she wrote.

Nina Dobrev had to undergo surgery after a devastating fall while attempting a wheelie on a dirt bike. After the fall, her movement was restricted and Dobrev shared pictures of herself wearing a knee brace as she awaited surgery in June.

"Life looks a lil different lately. Trading in the “selfie” for the “leggie” Get ready for the leg content because that’s all I’ve got in my camera roll these days 😂🙏🏼," read the caption.

She shared an update on Instagram a week later.

"Surgery was a success 🫶🏼Thank you to everyone who has been sending kind messages, thoughts, prayers, and good vibes.I have been feeling the support and positive energy. It means more than you will ever know ❤️‍🩹," she wrote.

Nina Dobrev has yet to make a full recovery and is currently using crutches as she progresses in her healing journey.
