Jordan Chiles, a top gymnast for Team USA and a current NCAA competitor, recently expressed her support for fellow Team USA gymnast and Paris Olympics alternate Joscelyn Roberson as Roberson made her NCAA debut with the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Roberson was part of the 2023 World Championship winning team, and is a two-time Pan American gold and silver medalist. The gymnast signed with the Arkansas Razorbacks in 2023, and made her debut with the team on January 11, 2025 at the Farmers Market Collegiate Quad.
Upon her debut, Roberson scored a 39.475 overall, tying for the all-around title with Tory Vetter of Ohio State. She scored 9.875 on vault, 9.825 on the bars and beam, and 9.950 on the floor. Her score on the floor tied her for second in the event, behind Jordan Chiles who clinched first.
In a post-match interview, Chiles was asked if she was surprised by her former teammate’s incredible performance. She replied,
“No, not at all.”
Roberson herself wasn't overwhelmed by her performance, saying in the same interview,
“This being my first ever college meet on podium is kind of my wheelhouse, I mean I'm so used to podium.”
Jordan Chiles pens four-word message about her collegiate season
Jordan Chiles entered the 2025 NCAA season with high expectations, having won the uneven bars and floor exercise national titles back in 2023. Chiles made her season debut for UCLA on January 4, competing at the American Gold Classic.
The youngster immediately impressed, taking home the meet title on vault with a score of 9.900. Chiles then matched this score on the uneven bars. Up next, the 23-year-old competed at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad. Here, she won the meet title on the floor, posting an impressive 9.975. Chiles also competed on the uneven bars, where she scored a 9.850.
While her 2025 NCAA season has already gotten off to an incredible start, Jordan Chiles is clearly hungry for more. Taking to her Instagram, the Paris Olympics gold medalist shared a snap of herself competing for UCLA, and wrote,
“Only up from here…’
Jordan Chiles' next assignment for the UCLA Bruins will be on January 18. The gymnast and her teammates will take on Maryland at the Xfinity Center at 4:30 PM PT. The meet will be telecast live on the B1G+ network.
