According to sources, the Nebraska Huskers' women's volleyball team has not reported any transfers. Although Lexi Rodriguez left after signing with a professional team, none of the players left the Huskers program and John Cook's tutelage.
Cook has been coaching the Nebraska Huskers since 2000. In 2024, the team had a stellar run. Taylor Landfair, Harper Murray, and Andi Jackson posted record kills to catapult the team to the Final Four. The win was also their seventh in a row and Cook's 12th during his active years as Nebraska coach. However, they lost their win-streaking, facing defeat by Penn State, which then advanced to finals against the Louisville squad.
After the Nittany Lions women's volleyball lifted the champion's trophy, the NCAA transfer portal updated about several athletes joining and leaving teams ahead of the next season. However, as per sources, a journalist, who extensively covers the Huskers, stated that no player from Nebraska have entered the transfer portal yet.
"No Nebraska volleyball players have entered the portal as of Monday evening, according to sources," the caption read.
Lexi Rodriguez recently received her fourth All-American honor, joining the likes of Sarah Pavan and Kadie Rolfzen. She was joined by teammates, setter Bergen Reily, middle blocker Andi Jackson, and outside hitter Harper Murray.
However, the following news of only one Nebraska Huskers member making the 2024 All-American team didn't include the promising Huskers players, leaving social fans in splits.
Nebraska Huskers women's volleyball team captain Merritt Beason - "I might not be perfect but I try to be the best for them"
Taking 19 wins in 20 matches in the conference, the Nebraska Huskers recorded a 3-1 victory over Maryland and became joint Big Ten champions with the Penn State University. After their monumental achievement, Merritt Beason, a senior and fellow captain of Rodriguez, shared that leading the team to the podium would be her only matter of concern.
" It's just been so special and it's a special thing to be a captain here at Nebraska and the girls select us to be that. So for me, it's just an honor to be a captain and to be leading all these girls. I might not be perfect all the time but I just try to be the best for them day in and day out and maybe it's not through stats but I just try to find a way that I can give to my team in each and every match and every practice."
Nebraska Huskers' senior Lexi Rodriguez signed with League One Volleyball on turning pro, bidding goodbye to her storied career.
