Aleksander Kilde's latest recovery update after his harrowing crash has garnered heartfelt reactions from a few iconic celebrities, including the legendary skier Lindsey Vonn. Kilde suffered a terrifying crash downhill in Wengen, Switzerland on January 13, 2024.
The 32-year-old endured major injuries, including severe cut and nerve damage in his right calf, plus two torn ligaments in his shoulder. He had to be airlifted following the crash.
Since then, the skier and his fiance Mikaela Shiffrin have updated the fans about the recovery process. In the latest recovery update, Kilde stated that the crash and the recovery process have been a transformation physically and mentally.
"Last couple of months have been changing physically but also mentally," Kilde wrote.
"Alright guys, let’s keep it short: it’s been a wild journey so far and we‘re not entirely done yet. One more surgery, one more rehab, and no racing this winter. But trust me - I‘ll be back."
Impressed by his determination and resilience, multiple celebrities, including Vonn praised Kilde as the former wrote:
"One more surgery, keep fighting! You’ll be back 💪🏻."
Atle Lie McGrath, a Norwegian skier, extended his admiration towards Kilde and said:

After navigating the crash and the recovery process, including multiple surgeries, Aleksander Kilde has decided to remain dormant from the 2024/25 FIS Alpine Ski World Cup season.
In the same video shared by the skier, he informed that due to the upcoming shoulder surgery, followed by a few months of rehabilitation period, he has opted out from competing.
"There's not gonna be any racing season for me this year. I will have to do the surgery and do I think three-four months with rehab with shoulder before I could put any load on it. So it kind of speak for itself. But you will still see me around. I will definitely be at some races so you'll see this sometimes."
The 2024/25 FIS Alpine Ski World Cup season is set to commence on October 26, 2024, in Sölden, Austria.
