Yohan Blake recently claimed that he didn't feel the support and respect from his home country, Jamaica, amid a tough season that saw him struggle with numerous injuries. The 34-year-old received backlash from Jamaicans following the statement, but has now hinted that no one will ever understand what he has gone through over the course of his career.

Blake is the second fastest sprinter of all time behind Usain Bolt, over both 100m and 200m. However, the Jamaican’s career has been marred with injuries, especially since the 2012 London Olympics.

He was looking to qualify for the Paris Olympics 2024 but didn't make the 100m finals at the Jamaican Olympic Trials. Blake finished last at the London Diamond League, and in a post-race interview, he opened up about his feelings and the outdoor season, where he is yet to break the 10-second barrier.

Yohan Blake claimed that he was feeling good during practice but wasn't able to execute it during the races. He added (via The Inside Lane):

"You know as I said, my own country Jamaica doesn't give me the respect and I'm happy they don't because other people outside do and they appreciate me more than my own country," he said.

Blake's statement became a topic of discussion over social media, with many Jamaican fans criticizing the sprinter for disrespecting his country. The 34-year-old has now responded to the backlash with a cryptic post on X, which likely implies that he still stands by his words.

"No one will ever know how hard it's been for you and how much you have endured. So never allow anyone to bring you down, because you are stronger than they will ever realize. So --- Doubt Your Doubts," he wrote.

Yohan Blake's last substantial international medal came at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, where he won bronze in the 100m. Although he has been competing consistently, injuries have kept following him over the last decade. But the 34-year-old isn't done trying.

"Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all," he said on X.

Yohan Blake had stated that the 2024 Paris Olympics would be his last Olympic appearance. But now that he hasn't been able to qualify for the event, the Jamaican will likely hang up his spikes in coming seasons, more likely after the 2025 World Championships.
