Fred Kerley made a controversial comment on Noah Lyles, calling him arrogant in the new season of Netflix's docuseries Sprint. Both athletes competed at the Paris Olympics in August.
Lyles won two medals in Paris, of which one was gold and the other was bronze. He won his first Olympic gold in the 100m, clocking 9.79s to stand atop the podium ahead of Kishane Thompson and Fred Kerley, who claimed second and third place respectively. Lyles finished third in the 200m, behind Letsile Tebogo and Kenny Bednarek.
Just a month ahead of the Paris Olympics, Netflix's latest docuseries SPRINT was released on July 2, 2024. This is a track-based series that showcases the off-track lives of the athletes, revealing their struggles, victories, and the intense training that helps them compete.
Three months after the launch of the docuseries, the trailer for SPRINT season 2 has been released. During the trailer, the 100m Paris Olympics bronze medalist Fred Kerley took a dig at Noah Lyles by calling him arrogant.
"Noah's cocky, arrogant, and all that."
Citius Mag shared the video of the trailer on its Instagram account, which features athletes like Gabby Thomas, Sha'Carri Richardson, Julien Alfred, and several others. The post's caption read:
"SPRINT Season 2 trailer just dropped. The @boxtoboxfilms documentary series following the top sprinters in the world returns to Netflix on Nov. 13 to showcase the behind-the-scenes of the Paris Olympics."
Noah Lyles opened up about competition with Fred Kerley during Paris Olympics
Noah Lyles sat down for an interview with Citius Mag in March 2024 ahead of the Paris Olympics and spoke about his competition with Fred Kerley. He exuded belief in him and said that he expected him to bounce back.
"I think it has to be Fred coming out for revenge," Noah Lyles said. "I would expect nothing less from him. To be honest like if that was me I would be saying the exact same thing - a fire igniting under the belly."
He added:
"I think you know as Fred looks at this you know he tried the double and that's again it's hard to do the duality of mixing the two. So whatever he's learned he's probably gonna take into the next World Championships with a huge fire and saying you know, 'I'm going to you know make sure that they know that I'm the one,' especially with him having that silver so definitely you know again having that burning desire."
Noah Lyles got engaged with his girlfriend Junelle Bromfield on October 12, 2024, and announced the same on social media.
