Noah Lyles has been vocal about how track and field has struggled with popularity compared to other sports leagues like the NBA and the NFL. The American athlete expressed his thoughts and revealed that the sport should have a fan-focused approach to reach the masses and remain relevant during the off-season.

Furthermore, he expressed that athletes should hang out with each other and maintain a sense of camaraderie which would help to promote the sport.

“You look at our sport and we don’t even hang out with the athletes in our own sport. The big rock stars [from track & field] of our past and present don’t even hang out together. How can we get to this higher level that we all want to talk about and we aren’t even doing what’s needed to show that we respect each other?" he said.

Along with such changes, he believes that athletes should make appearances in major events and shows, which will help the audience connect with them even better. He also believes it'll further help them elevate their brand value which ultimately benefits track and field.
