Noah Lyles and Kenny Bednarek recently reacted to the massive price hike in all commodities, right from the U.S. Olympic trials to the 2024 Paris Olympics. The steep rise in prices ahead of such a competition is a common phenomenon due to the massive demand that is generated to witness the prestigious contest where the crème de la crème of all the sports would be competing for the ultimate prize.
Lyles is currently participating in the Atlanta City Games but is running every race with the Olympic trials and the Paris Olympics in foresight. On the other hand, Bednarek put forward a massive performance at the Doha Diamond League in the 200m, clocking 19.67 seconds and bettering his own personal record in the process.
Kenny Bednarek took to X/Twitter to express his discontent with the massive price hike in the flight tickets and the accommodation in due course of the Olympics, making it very difficult to accommodate his team.
"The cost to fly and accommodate my team at the trials and Olympics is pretty wild. Prices are jacked up," he wrote.
Noah Lyles replied to Bednarek's tweet, agreeing to his take on the matter. He expressed that it was hard for athletes like them.
"It’s hard for all of us man," wrote Lyles.
Noah Lyles' target for the Paris Olympics
Noah Lyles has set massive goals for the 2024 Paris Olympics. After winning three gold medals at the World Championships in Budapest, he announced that he would be targeting to break the record set by Usain Bolt.
Lyles not only wished to break Bolt's record but achieve a feat never accomplished before in track and field — winning four medals in a single Olympic edition.
“Last year, I went out there and won three gold medals. This year, I want to get four. And if I don’t get four, I am going after three world records,” he said (via USA Today).
Lyles' ambitious targets won't be too easy to achieve as the Paris Olympics will feature one of the most competitive lineups since the Rio Olympics in 2016. With several seasoned athletes like Christian Coleman and Fred Kerley in contention for a spot in the U.S. Olympic team, the trials scheduled in June would be a treat for track and field enthusiasts.
As the Olympic season unfolds, the buildup is getting more exciting than ever.
