A look back at Noah Lyles’ 2024 season
After beginning his 2024 season at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, Noah Lyles continued to compete indoors. At the USA Indoor National Championships, the sprinter outdid his own personal best to take gold in the 60m, outdoing compatriot Christian Coleman in the process. From here, Lyles went on to make his debut at the World Indoor Championships, where he claimed silver in the 60m and the 4x400m sprint.
Lyles began his 2024 outdoor season in April at the Tom Jones Memorial, running the 100m and claiming a win in 10.01s. Later this same month, the American won the 100m at the Bermuda Grand Prix before finishing second in the distance at the Racers Grand Prix in Kingston.
In 2024, the 27-year-old made his 200m debut at the USATF New York City Grand Prix, storming to the win in 19.77s. From here he went on to dominate both the 100 and 200m distances at the US Olympic Trials, subsequently qualifying for his second consecutive Games.
After the Olympic Trials, Lyles raced at the London Diamond League, finishing first in the 100m. He then arrived at the Paris Olympics, where he shocked audiences when he outdid Jamaica's Kishane Thompson to win gold in the 100m, setting a new personal best of 9.79s. He followed this up with a bronze in the 200m, finishing behind Botswana's Letsile Tebogo and compatriot Kenny Bednarek.
